Although a relative newcomer to the Oxford Gallery, Connecticut artist Barbara Goodspeed has enjoyed a considerable national reputation for several decades. A member of many professional organizations, including the Salmagundi Club and the American Artists Professional League, and a recipient of numerous awards, Barbara’s work has been recently represented in the Rockport publications, The Best of Oil, and The Best of Landscape.

Barbara’s paintings strike a fine balance between representation and painterly artiface. Rooted firmly within the New England landscape tradition, her scenes are places of both isolation and protection. It is not physical topography but man’s relation to the land which is the proper subject of Barbara Goodspeed’s art. Barbara is listed in Who’s Who in American Art, Who’s Who in America, and in the Dictionary of International Biography.
