Settled in Springfield, MA and married artist Eleanor Isabella Curtis. After another visit to Europe, he worked in Washington D.C. where he earned a fine reputation as a portraitist of prominent persons. Following another trip to Europe, he opened a studio in New York City and painted more portraits. Later, bought a twenty room mansion in Newbury, MA, which became his permanent home and studio. Studied: Royal Academy of Munich with Alexander Wagner and Franz Von Stuck and in Paris with Jean Leon Gerome at Ecole des Beaux Arts and with Peter Paul Muller. Member: American Artists Professional League, Copley Society, Salmagundi Club, and Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts. Exhibited: won a prize at Munich Royal Academy In the collection of: Whistler Memorial Home, MA; Georgia Museum of Art; George Walter Vincent Smith Museum; Museum of Fine Arts-Springfield; Davis Museum and Cultural Center; Worcester Art Museum; Farnsworth Art Museum; Hickory Museum of Art; and John H.
