Born in Gloucester, MA. Marine painter. Cousin of painter Kilby Webb Elwell. Possibly a pupil, or copyist of Fitz Hugh Lane. Inspired painter Charles Henry Grant.

Exhibited: Boston AC, 1873-91; AIC, 1888; PAFA, 1889.

Died 1912, in Naples, Italy.
